LOS GATOS, Calif. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) August 19, /2008/ — VendorRate (www.vendorrate.com) announced today that IT professionals attending the LinuxWorld Expo /2008/ Conference in San Francisco this month gave their highest customer satisfaction scores to technology vendors Amazon, VMware, Shoretel, Apple and Google.

VendorRate.com, the only Internet site that offers quick, confidential performance ratings and comparisons of technology vendors, said hundreds of vendors were rated during the August 5-7 show attended by some 10,000 Linux users. Attendees were invited to rate any IT or telecom vendor, regardless of whether they were among the 200 exhibiting at the show.

News Image While raters at LinuxWorld /2008/ demonstrated their general propensity for alternative technologies in their ratings, they also proved to be more scrutinous in their evaluations, delivering lower overall performance scores than vendors had received on VendorRate prior to the show.

This knowledgeable crowd showed the kind of independence weve come to expect from Linux users, said Rick Schaefer, CEO of VendorRate. LinuxWorld attendees may seem like a tough crowd for vendors to please, but they are quite willing to compliment a vendor they feel is doing a good job.

With a maximum possible score of 100 based on ten key performance categories, Schaefer said, Amazon Web Services received the top cumulative rating of 89, followed by VMware (88), Shoretel (88), Apple Desktop/Notebook (87) and Google (87).

Intel, CDW, Network Appliance, Emerson Network Power, Cisco Systems and IBM Server & Systems rounded out the top ten vendors at the show with scores of 80 or above.

Companies with the lowest total ratings among frequently rated vendors were Microsoft Operating Systems (38), AT&T Wireless (39), Oracle Applications (39), Sprint Nextel (44) and Rogers Wireless (51), Schaefer said.

More information on ratings from LinuxWorld is available at http://www.vendorrate.com/news/2008/-08-18-Linux-World.pdf

WinPure Ltd, a worldwide leading provider of data cleansing and data deduplication software, have today released Clean & Match 2009.WinPure Clean & Match 2009 is the latest edition, following on from the award-winning Clean & Match /2007/. It builds upon its data deduplication module and now features advanced fuzzy matching logic to identify and remove more duplications. Already acclaimed for its easy-to-use interface and powerful data cleansing functions, WinPure have now added fuzzy matching logic onto its data deduplication module, of which during recent tests identified up to 60% more duplications than previous versions. This could mean a further reduction in marketing and postage costs by means of its powerful elimination of duplications, whether its from marketing lists, spreadsheets, databases or CRM’s.

Reading, Berkshire (PRWEB) August 19, /2008/ — Marketing Director David Leivesley explains, “In the current climate all businesses are interested in cost saving tools. Using Clean & Match 2009 can potentially help every business that has a list or database, whether its through the removal of duplications or by cleaning, correcting and standardising information. With Clean & Match 2009 organizations worldwide can dramatically improve their data quality, so they can cut costs and make substantial savings on their everyday operations.

Clean & Match 2009 now contains fuzzy matching logic capabilities amongst its wide array of powerful data deduplication, data quality and data cleansing features, David Leivesley continues, “The data deduplication process on Clean & Match 2009 has been taken to a whole new level now, more of a human level than of a computer level.

Conventional computer software is great at exact matching, it can process thousands of records per second but throw in some real-world issues like not exactly matching similar records and most likely they will never be picked up. Clean & Match 2009 contains advanced algorithms for the detection of phonetic, mis-keyed and abbreviated variations within poorly structured data, thus helping to identify duplications that in most instances would never be picked up. With Clean & Match 2009 users can quickly identify duplicate records based on a combination of fields such as contact names, address information or account numbers, using advanced fuzzy logic algorithms that would normally only exist in very expensive and dedicated software”.

WinPure Clean & Match 2009 runs under Windows XP/2003/Vista and costs $925(US) or £465(GBP). Existing WinPure customers can upgrade to Clean & Match 2009 at a discounted rate. MAKE’s recent Strategic Modernization Roadmap (SMR) helped Alberta Ministry of Environment to clarify goals, document their current legacy application portfolio, and facilitate dialog between the IT and business sides of the organization.

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) August 19, /2008/ — MAKE’s recently-completed Strategic Modernization Roadmap (SMR) engagement with Alberta Ministry of Environment (Alberta Environment) is helping to synchronize and stimulate both Information Technology (IT) and organizational transformation.

Public sector IT departments know they need to modernize their legacy system portfolios to better support the business operations of government. They are burdened with software applications written decades ago that are fragile, difficult and costly to modify or enhance in order to support rapidly changing needs and legislative changes. And the challenges are not entirely technological — in many cases the inflexible nature of the legacy applications have, over many years, been reflected in the human attitudes and relationships between the business and IT domains within government.

In his case, Alberta Environment CIO Roger Burns has found that not only did the SMR help to clarify the way forward for IT transformation, but it has become a catalyst in helping the business and IT parties get behind a common effort that is important to the future effectiveness of Ministry operations.

“The Ministry has long recognized the need for both IT and Business transformation. The challenge has been getting both sides to speak the same language,” Roger Burns explained. “We discovered that by going through MAKE’s SMR process, which begins with an interview round with the key stakeholders, we were able to relate to each other in new and constructive ways that would have been difficult without an independent third-party leading the conversations.”

“Although it may seem somewhat obvious or trivial on first blush,” Burns continues, “getting everyone on the same page, strategically and tactically, was key. And I’m sure many CIOs would agree that this is not easy to do. As we worked through the goals, plans and realities of our organization together, coupled with the deep technical analysis of our existing IT applications and infrastructure that the MAKE team provided, we were able to come up with a strategic and realistic roadmap that is supported by the key stakeholders, including the Executive team. Furthermore, the educational component that MAKE has woven throughout their SMR process made it all happen more easily.”

Alberta Environment is now on track to issue Request for Proposals (RFPs) to modernize their legacy systems and move forward in their plans for Business transformation enabled by IT transformation.

About MAKE
MAKE Technologies Inc. is an industry leader in legacy to SOA modernization and is revolutionizing the way organizations modernize and integrate their applications for deployment in an increasingly Web-oriented, user-centric world. Launched in 1999, MAKE has led the way in legacy modernization technology for Java EE and other leading platforms such as .NET. MAKE is headquartered in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
