LOS GATOS, Calif. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) August 19, /2008/ — VendorRate (www.vendorrate.com) announced today that IT professionals attending the LinuxWorld Expo /2008/ Conference in San Francisco this month gave their highest customer satisfaction scores to technology vendors Amazon, VMware, Shoretel, Apple and Google.
VendorRate.com, the only Internet site that offers quick, confidential performance ratings and comparisons of technology vendors, said hundreds of vendors were rated during the August 5-7 show attended by some 10,000 Linux users. Attendees were invited to rate any IT or telecom vendor, regardless of whether they were among the 200 exhibiting at the show.
While raters at LinuxWorld /2008/ demonstrated their general propensity for alternative technologies in their ratings, they also proved to be more scrutinous in their evaluations, delivering lower overall performance scores than vendors had received on VendorRate prior to the show.
“This knowledgeable crowd showed the kind of independence we’ve come to expect from Linux users,” said Rick Schaefer, CEO of VendorRate. “LinuxWorld attendees may seem like a tough crowd for vendors to please, but they are quite willing to compliment a vendor they feel is doing a good job.”
With a maximum possible score of 100 based on ten key performance categories, Schaefer said, Amazon Web Services received the top cumulative rating of 89, followed by VMware (88), Shoretel (88), Apple Desktop/Notebook (87) and Google (87).
Intel, CDW, Network Appliance, Emerson Network Power, Cisco Systems and IBM Server & Systems rounded out the top ten vendors at the show with scores of 80 or above.
Companies with the lowest total ratings among frequently rated vendors were Microsoft Operating Systems (38), AT&T Wireless (39), Oracle Applications (39), Sprint Nextel (44) and Rogers Wireless (51), Schaefer said.
